The Patient had seen a few of our TV Commercials which he enjoyed and the people at Nyack Hospital had great things to say about this facility.

Details of Experience:
This patient came to Ramapo Manor because of complications due to diabetes. His legs were very swollen and were filled with fluids. When he was admitted into Ramapo Manor he was barely able to move his legs. His roommate was very nasty to him because he didn’t want to share a room so right off the bat this man was off to a bad start. A few days went by and this resident and his roommate had become best friends thanks to their passion in sports. He wasn’t satisfied with his food so instead of playing cat and mouse I went and got our Chef so he could personally speak with this resident to resolve any issues. On Saturdays this Resident and I would watch the football games which would always put a smile on his face because we both loved the same team. I spoke with the Director of Therapy yesterday and she said that this resident made such strides with his recovery time she was astonished. By the time he was ready to leave today he was walking like a million dollars. It was such a pleasure to see. Last night we threw him a Graduation Dinner which is a program we just started. This dinner is to congratulate the Resident on their completion of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. It is held the night before they are discharged and they have the option to pick a family member, a resident that they became friends with or an employee here at Ramapo. The resident then meets with our chef to go over the menu that they would like for this dinner and what time they would like it to take place. They are then brought into a dining area and served a fabulous meal. He ended up choosing his roommate because of how close they became over their time spent together. When I asked him on his discharge survey what would you rate your overall stay here at Ramapo his answer was a 10.This resident was a great example on how the little things in life can make such a difference.
