Details of Experience:

For this month’s case study I wanted to use a resident who has hit a huge milestone in her life. Helen T. came to Ramapo Manor on March 5th 2015. When she first arrived from GSH the original plan was for her to get rehabilitation and go home. Over time Helen’s condition worsened and her family decided that it would be in Helen’s best interest if she became a long term resident at our facility. We were able to find Helen a nice room that had been newly renovated with a wonderful roommate. As the months passed, Helen was getting stronger and starting to feel much better. On February 8th of this year Helen turned 104 years old. We were so excited for the big day that we contacted our local Channel 12 news and they did a beautiful piece on her. We also threw Helen a huge Mardi Gras party which family and residents attended. It was a very exciting month for everyone here at Ramapo and we were so proud of Helen for hitting such a wonderful milestone. We have already started her birthday plans for when she turns 105. This story is a true inspiration to everyone and it just goes to show you that with a good state of mind and good health you can live to any number of years.
