How did this patient hear about The Willows at Ramapo: From the Hospital
Steven was admitted to The Willows due to a cerebral infarction resulting in a decline in his ADLs (activities of daily living) and functional mobility, requiring the patient to be confined to a wheelchair. Before being hospitalized, Steven lived at home, together with his wife Bonnie. Even though Steven came to the Willows confined to a wheelchair, he came here with determination and a drive to walk independently again.
With the help of our stellar rehab team, Steven began to be able to quickly transition from wheelchair to walker, to eventually walking completely independently on his own. Steven also worked with our speech therapists to help with deficits resulting from the stroke.
Steven said that the staff at the Willows is wonderful, and the building is beautiful. Steven’s Wife, Bonnie, stated that Staff, like Evan and Jane Lovenson, our director of social workers, and all our rehab and nursing teams, were not just welcoming to Steven but also opened their arms to her and encouraged her to take an active part in her husband’s recovery every step of the way.
Steven, I only wish that you continue to regain your strength. Your smile is infectious, and your drive to be stronger is remarkable. All of us here at the Willows are overjoyed with all that you have accomplished and are glad to see you home and back to yourself again.
